Upwind RPG Corebook

$34.99 SRP

Imagine Bakshi’s classic animated film Wizards has a head-on collision with Disney’s Treasure Planet and the resulting fire is put out with a whole lot of Studio Ghibli’s Castle in the Sky. That, in an unexpected, animated mash-up, is Upwind.

Upwind is a narrative style RPG set in a strange alternate world of floating island nations, flying sailing ships, long-lost technology, wild elemental powers, looming war and forgotten legacies.

Upwind is powered by the Q system, an original stakes-based, playing card-driven mechanic that gives every encounter consequences with meaningful, narrative-building outcomes. With its unique bidding rules, Upwind plays as fast as you can tell your story. (Any standard poker deck works for play).

Storypath and Whimsy Cards

Storypath Cards are a card accessory to improve roleplaying, no matter which game system is used. The cards provide a unique way to create more dynamic and detailed stories by harnessing players’ imaginations. Cards allow players to break into the action and add a new detail or twist to the story. Usually, this is something which adds to the mood or atmosphere of the story but can also facilitate the player working with the GM to affect the plot.
This retail display comes with one each of six different decks each with their own theme. Five Storypath decks include the Path of Adventure, Path of Hope, and Path of Horror, as well as decks for Intrigue and Morality. Each deck is 36 linen-finish, tarot-size cards in its own tuckbox for $11.99. The sixth deck is the original Whimsy card deck of 54 story-crafting cards in a tuckbox for $15.99.

Each deck of Storypath Cards contains 36 cards divided into these types: Theme Cards, Tone Cards, and Climax Cards. Each of the cards has a title, a short description to guide their use, an illustration, and a number from one to seven that determines when it can be played.

New from Nocturnal Media! Gladiator: Quest for the Rudis!

Coming Soon!
NCMQR1
Gladiator: Quest for the Rudis
$59.99 SRP

Gladiator: Quest for the Rudis is a tactical level combat card game based on the blood sport that reached its peak of popularity between 75 BC and 63 BC. Gladiators were mostly condemned slaves sentenced to train, and eventually die, in the arena for the entertainment of the Romans. However, Roman citizens and even Roman emperors opted to fight as ‘gladiators,’ be it for gold or glory. But it was only those slaves whose fates were to live life as gladiators who quested for the rudis. The rudis was nothing more than a symbolic wooden sword, and yet it represented the ultimate prize to a slave-gladiator; it meant fame and possibly fortune but most of all it meant...freedom.

Gladiator: Quest for the Rudis places you on the sandy floor of the arena, in the role of a slave gladiator with deadly attacks and deft defenses at your disposal. Play as a light gladiator, protected only by cloth padding and a piece of leather, but with maneuverability to strike at an unprotected flank or back; or don the manica, ocrea and helmet of the heavy gladiator, wearing metal armor and carrying a large rectangular shield, a 22-pound scutum, making you a stalking, nearly impregnable, death dealer. Grimace as the curved blade of your opponent’s sica slashes the chest of your mighty murmillo after the defense that you selected fails to avoid the attack selected by your opponent! You choose the attacks, select your defense and counters as you control one of the sixteen individually rated gladiators in the game. Will you claim the rudis and your freedom or be doomed to die before the crowds of Rome?
