Terra Mystica, Gaia Project & more from Capstone Games!

Release Date: May 2020

CTGZM7240
Terra Mystica

$79.99 SRP

In the land of Terra Mystica dwell 14 different peoples in seven landscapes, and each group is bound to its own home environment, so to develop and grow, they must terraform neighboring landscapes into their home environments in competition with the other groups.

Terra Mystica is a full information game without any luck that rewards strategic planning. Each player governs one of the 14 groups. With subtlety and craft, the player must attempt to rule as great an area as possible and to develop that group's skills. There are also four religious cults in which you can progress. To do all that, each group has special skills and abilities.

Taking turns, the players execute their actions on the resources they have at their disposal. Different buildings allow players to develop different resources. Dwellings allow for more workers. Trading houses allow players to make money. Strongholds unlock a group's special ability, and temples allow you to develop religion and your terraforming and seafaring skills. Buildings can be upgraded: Dwellings can be developed into trading houses; trading houses can be developed into strongholds or temples; one temple can be upgraded to become a sanctuary. Each group must also develop its terraforming skill and its skill with boats to use the rivers.

Proximity to other groups is a double-edged sword in Terra Mystica. Being close to other groups gives you extra power, but it also means that expanding is more difficult...

CTGZF001
Gaia Project

$99.99 SRP

As in the original Terra Mystica, fourteen different factions live on seven different kinds of planets, and each faction is bound to their own home planets, so to develop and grow, they must terraform neighboring planets into their home environments in competition with the other groups. In addition, Gaia planets can be used by all factions for colonization, and Transdimensional planets can be changed into Gaia planets.

All factions can improve their skills in six different areas of development — Terraforming, Navigation, Artificial Intelligence, Gaiaforming, Economy, Research — leading to advanced technology and special bonuses. To do all of that, each group has special skills and abilities.

The playing area is made of ten sectors, allowing a variable set-up and thus an even bigger replay value than its predecessor Terra Mystica. A two-player game is hosted on seven sectors.

Terra Mystica: Fire & Ice

$49.99 SRP

Terra Mystica: Fire & Ice has the original factions brace themselves for new competitors: Yetis – the masters of power, Ice Maidens – who adore their Temples, Acolytes – whose entire life is focused on the cults, and Dragonlords – who use their power to create volcanoes. And as if this wasn't enough, there are two more factions, Shapeshifters and Riverwalkers, who ignore the most basic of rule of one faction, one terrain type. (Inconceivable to the Halflings!)

CTGZM7244
Terra Mystica: Merchants of the Seas

$49.99 SRP

The factions of Terra Mystica have opened their doors for business beyond the trading post in Terra Mystica: Merchants of the Seas. More trade flows between the factions with their brand new ships sailing on the rivers. A new large building, the shipyard, upgrades your shipping or range and produces ships with twenty faction board extensions.

Factions that export will receive VP and resources depending on the building they deliver to. Factions importing and receiving an opponent's ship will gain power. Ships will dig and build in adjacent hexes, so watch out! Ships can also be consumed and form new Dwellings. The ship movement and Dwelling actions add a new tactical movement element to the already deep strategy of Terra Mystica while maintaining perfect information.

The factions must also adjust to an entire new set of 12 round scoring tiles, four new Ship related Favors, three new bonus tiles, three additional power actions, town tiles, and two maps: Loon Lakes and Fjords. The maps and most of the round scoring may also used be used with the base game if desired.

The Fire and Ice expansion is not required, but the material for them is provided.

CTGZM7249

Cooper Island

$69.95 SRP

In the age of exploration, the players arrive at a new home far away from their homeland. They try to colonize the big island and each player tries to explore one part of it by placing landscape tiles. Landscape tiles grant resources and those are used to erect buildings with special abilities. Barriers on the island have to be removed in order to explore the island even further. Players build valuable statues and supply ships get them the supplies from the old world they need to be a successful settler on Cooper Island.

The special thing about Cooper Island is the way the players mark their victory points. They take small ship markers around the island to show their progress. On their way around the island, they find smaller islands inshore that grant valuable benefits. After five rounds, a game of Cooper Island ends and the player who developed the best and went on furthest with their ships will win.

Crystal Palace

$69.95 SRP

In Crystal Palace, players take on the role of a nation at the time of the first World Fair in London (1851), trying to create a buzz with spectacular inventions and the support of famous and powerful people.

Crystal Palace is a dice-placement game in which the players themselves determine the stats of their dice at the beginning of each round. The higher the number, the better—but it comes at a price. In the course of the game, dice are placed on eight action locations (Patent Office, Reform Club, London Times, Port of London, Waterloo Station, British Museum, Bank of England, Westminster) in a competition for the best resources, patents, and brains.

In a world of slightly weird inventions, you will meet people like Phileas Fogg, Levi Strauss and Amelia Edwards, and invent gadgets such as the Thinking machine, the Beer glass counter or the Climate changer.

The Estates

$39.99 SRP

The City Council recently approved the zoning map for a new urban development, The Estates. The zoning map calls for 2 rows of 4 buildings each, but investors ignore the requirements and begin building in all 3 rows. The Mayor catches wind of the potential for profit and begins planning a new mansion in The Estates, which doubles the vale of one of the rows. The City Council puts an end to this racketeering with an ultimatum: as soon as the first two rows are completed the uncompleted row is to be torn down, resulting in a huge loss for all who invested there.

The players take on the role of investors seeking to make the most money by developing buildings in The Estates. Players will bid for the carious building pieces and place them in The Estates to their benefit. All buildings in completed rows score positive points, while all buildings in incomplete rows score negative points. It is possible to have zero completed rows of buildings.

Now, your group must escape the deadly lava flows as quickly as possible to reach the safe village.

In this cooperative dice game, players simultaneously and secretly roll their dice behind their screens in each round. During the game, you must find the best way across a number of terrain cards to the safe village for each player. Each terrain card has a given dice requirement.
