New May releases from GMT Games!

Order by Date: April 15, 2018
Release Date: May 2018

GMT1807
Skies Above the Reich: The Air War Over Germany: 1942-1945
$89.00 SRP
SDI

Skies Above the Reich is a solitaire game depicting a Luftwaffe squadron of Bf109s struggling to deter and destroy the relentless daylight raids over Germany during World War Two. The player’s individual aircraft, each represented by a stickered block, must confront the mighty "combat box" formation of the United States Army Air Force, a deadly terrain of B-17 Flying Fortresses. The game is a broad strokes depiction that presents the arc of the desperate air war. Stretching from late 1942 to early 1945, Skies Above the Reich follows that trajectory in a series of missions strung together to make a campaign. Each mission will take a half hour or more to play, while a campaign can last anywhere between 6 to 60 missions.

GMT1808
Fort Sumter: The Secession Crisis, 1860-1861

$42.00 SRP
SDI

Fort Sumter is a two-player Card Driven Game (CDG) portraying the 1860 secession crisis that led to the bombardment of Fort Sumter and the American Civil War. Fort Sumter is a small footprint game (11x17" mounted map) that takes approximately 25-40 minutes to play. The game pits a Unionist versus a Secessionist player. Each player uses the area control mechanic pioneered in my We The People design and immortalized in Twilight Struggle to place, move, and remove political capital. The location of political capital determines who controls each of the four crisis dimensions (Political, Secession, Public Opinion, and Armaments). After three rounds of play, the game culminates in a Final Crisis confrontation to determine the winner.

The heart of the Fort Sumter design is my CDG system where you use Strategy cards for their value or historic event to acquire political capital from the crisis track. Political capital tokens are used to compete for control of the twelve map spaces. Here the likes of William Lloyd Garrison, Sam Houston, Jefferson Davis, and Harriet Beecher Stowe walk on stage, while the Southern states dissolve the Union.

New from GMT Games! Clash of Giants: Civil War, Wing Leader Supremacy 1943-45 & Fields of Despair!

Release Date: January 2017

GMT1603
Clash of Giants: Civil War

$55.00 SRP
SDI

Clash of Giants: Civil War takes the game system from Ted S. Raicer's popular and critically acclaimed Clash of Giants WWI series to two of the storied battles of the American Civil War: Second Bull Run and Gettysburg. CoG: Civil War uses a modified version of the chit-pull Activation system of Clash of Giants II: Campaigns of Galicia and First Ypres, 1914, while retaining the CoG combat system. Every (mostly brigade-level) unit has a Tactical Efficiency Rating based on its morale, training, leadership, and experience, but even a poor unit can have a heroic moment, while the Iron Brigade might not always be made of iron. It is a true player's system, which produces realistic results without a lot of fiddly procedures, and allows players to concentrate on the game rather than the rules.

Units in CoG: Civil War are mostly infantry brigades, (with the odd cavalry brigade or demi-brigade). Each day is divided into four day turns and one night turn. The maps depict woods, hills, steep hexsides, railway cuts and embankments, roads, rivers, creeks, bridges, towns, marshy ground, and the Devil's Den at Gettysburg.

Wing Leader: Supremacy 1943-1945

$79.00 SRP
SDI

WING LEADER: Supremacy 1943-1945 is the second volume of GMT's exciting Wing Leader game series, which started with Wing Leader: Victories 1940-1942. WING LEADER allows you to play out large-scale aerial combats in World War II.

Based on a unique side-scrolling view, WING LEADER: Supremacy 1943-1945 lets you recreate the climactic air battles at the end of the war. Scenarios feature fights above the Reich, Normandy, Italy, Romania, the Eastern Front, and the Pacific. Players fly squadrons and flights, attempting to intercept raids or fend off marauding fighters in fast-playing games that take between 90 and 120 minutes. Rules cover late war armaments such as air-to-air rockets and jet aircraft.

WING LEADER: Supremacy 1943-1945 is a stand-alone game and features more aircraft, more squadrons, and more battles. When combined with its sister game, WING LEADER: Victories 1940-1942, this second volume creates an experience that spans the entire war.

Fields of Despair: France 1914-1918

$99.00 SRP
SDI

Fields of Despair: France 1914-1918 is a 2-player hex-based strategic level block war game set on the Western Front of the First World War. Players take control of the Allies or Central Powers fighting the war on land, at sea, and in the air all the while making tough economic and technological decisions at home.

Fields of Despair has a unique block system designed to maintain the fog of war throughout the entire game. In most games, block combat values range from one to four. In Fields of Despair the range is zero to twenty.

The range in values makes Fields of Despair a very deceptive game. Players can build up a large force with a single block instead of giving away their strategy with a stack of blocks.

Movement is simple and free flowing. Players are allowed to "make change" during the movement phase. Thus a block with a combat value of 16 could be broken in two blocks of 8 before moving, or conversely two blocks could be combined into one. Zero-value blocks known as "Deception" blocks could also be part of the exchange. Thus after every movement phase you never really know the strength of your enemy.

The fog of war isn't lost after first contact with the enemy. Blocks remain hidden even when enemies occupy the same hex and stay hidden until one player decides to allocate an air squadron for reconnaissance or sends his men across no man's land.

New from GMT Games! Comancheria!

Release Date: December 2016

GMT1611
Comancheria

$60.00 SRP
SDI

Comanchería – The Rise and Fall of the Comanche Empire is Joel Toppen's second game design which tells the story of the First Nations people of North America. Like Navajo Wars, Comanchería is a SOLITAIRE game in which the player plays the role of the Numunuu, the Comanche people.

Using mechanics similar to Navajo Wars, Comanchería challenges the player to conquer and control the southern plains of North America. It won't be easy, however! Aggressive northern tribes like the Osage, Pawnee, Cheyenne, and Arapahoes will challenge your dominance of the hunting grounds. The colony of New Mexico has expansionist ambitions from the west. To the south lies Mexico and its new colony of Texas. And to the east lies the greatest threat of all: the United States of America.

Heavily outnumbered by the colonial powers, you will need to use your superior mobility and tactical prowess to conquer and then maintain your empire against a relentless tide of hostile encroachment. Along the way you will witness historical events like the opening of the Santa Fé Trail, the Indian Removal Act, the founding of the Texas Republic, and the American Civil War from an entirely fresh perspective: through the eyes of the Lords of the Southern Plains!

Contains:

  • 22" x 34" Mounted mapboard
  • 44 Hexagonal counters
  • 16 Round counters
  • 180 5/8" Square counters
  • 110 cards

Conquest of Paradise Deluxe 2nd Edition.

$57.00 SRP
SDI

Conquest of Paradise is a game of empire building in the Polynesian Triangle of the central Pacific Ocean for two, three, or four players.  Players explore the unknown ocean around them, hoping to discover the most lucrative island groups, and colonize them.  They build canoes and train warriors to create a force to defend their empire, while forging lines of communication with their developing discoveries.  Resources are scarce; using them wisely is the key to victory.  Investing resources into cultural innovations can yield unexpected dividends, like tattooing, hula dancing, surfing, or even the giant moai statues of Easter Island fame.

Conquest of Paradise is a well-tested, fast-playing design geared to appeal to players who enjoy games like New World, Civilization, and Conquistador.  You can learn the game in 10-15 minutes and finish a complete game in 60-90 minutes.

Contents:

  • 1 Mounted Game Map
  • 30 Island Group Titles
  • 55 Arts & Culture Cards
  • 1 1/2 Counter Sheets of 1/2" and 5/8" counters

1846

$69.00 SRP
SDI

1846 – the Midwest railroad boom has gone bust, leaving in its wake hundreds of failed local railroads. Sensing opportunity in the economic vacuum, five large eastern railroads (the New York Central, Erie, Pennsylvania, Baltimore and Ohio, and Grand Trunk out of Canada) seek dominance west of the Alleghenies. Can you, as a nineteenth century tycoon, knit together these profitable railroads with the Midwestern remnants to form the most profitable rail network stretching all the way to Chicago or St Louis?

1846 is an '18xx' game, one of many games by different designers inspired by Francis Tresham's 1829. However, 1846 has several unique features, such as its opening draft, variable setup, and a comparatively shorter game length, which is good for players new to 18xx. Play consists of alternating stock rounds with pairs of operating rounds. During stock rounds, players buy and sell shares, possibly launching new corporations. During operations, each railroad, with its majority stock holder (President) making all its decisions, lays track, builds stations, runs routes, declares dividends, and possibly buys bigger and better trains.

Contents:

  • 17" x 22" mounted game board
  • 1 available corporation/stock mat
  • 7 corporate mats
  • 63 corporate stock certificates
  • 56 station/stock tokens
  • 27 train cards
  • 10 private company certificates
  • 5 blank player cards
  • 2 independent railroad train cards
  • 1 Priority Deal card
  • 117 track tiles
  • Play money
  • 12 page rules folder

Command & Colors: Napoleonics Expansion 6: Epic

$75.00 SRP
SDI

EPIC Napoleonics is the sixth expansion for GMT's Commands & Colors Napoleonics game system. EPIC Napoleonics allows for fighting larger battles with more units.  EPIC Napoleonics is actually two game systems in one–the Epic Battles system, and the La Grande Battles system. Although the scope of our Napoleonic game has changed size wise, the historical feel and the basic rules of play, for the most part, remain the same. To experience the maximum enjoyment with these two new Napoleonic game formats, both EPIC Napoleonics and La Grande Battles scenarios are best played using the Command card and Tactician card decks that were part of the Generals, Marshals and Tacticians expansion.

Included in this expansion are six standard sized scenarios that focus on key phases of the battle of Austerlitz, 2 December 1805. This expansion also features 12 EPIC sized engagements and two La Grande Battle scenarios. Also included are two double-sided mounted maps. The EPIC sided battlefield is larger,  and at 11 hexes deep by 20 hexes wide, it is almost double the size of the standard size battlefield of 9 hexes deep by 13 hexes wide. When laid side-by-side to form the La Grande battlefield, the battle area is a whopping 11 hexes deep by 26 hexes wide.

Knowing that it is not always easy to muster eight players, the EPIC Napoleonic game is set up to play very well by just two players. Or if players so desire, the EPIC game, can in fact, be expanded to include four and even six players.

Contents:

  • 1 Rule and Scenarios Booklet
  • 6 double-sided Epic Scenario Sheets (12 scenarios)
  • 1 Double-sided La Grande Scenario Sheets (2 La Grande Scenarios)
  • 2 Battlefield map boards
  • 3 Terrain Card Sheets
  • 33 double-sided Terrain Tiles
  • 54 Victory Banners
  • 12 Garrison Markers
  • 12 Square Counters
  • 8 Battle Dice and Labels
  • Over 150 Unit Blacks and Label sheets

In order to play many of the scenarios in this expansion you will need a copy of the Commands & Colors Napoleonic game and the Spanish, Russian, Austrian, and Prussian expansions.

New from GMT Games! France '40: Guderian's Drive to the Channel!

Coming Soon!

GMT1318
France ‘40: Guderian's Drive to the Channel
$55.00 SRP
SDI

France ‘40 covers the crucial 10 days in May, 1940 when the German army broke the French line on the Meuse and raced to the sea at Abbeville. The daring sickle-like-cut across France cut off the BEF from their bases in Normandy and also trapped the French 1st and 7th Armies in Picardy. The French high-command became paralyzed and failed to counterattack. The British saw the situation was hopeless and headed for Dunkirk. It doomed France.

The game starts on May 13th, the third day of Case Yellow. Six panzer divisions are already through the Ardennes and at the Meuse River. The French and British have already raced through Belgium to reach the Dyle Line and cover the Gembloux Gap. The stage is set. Can the Germans cross the Meuse in front of strong opposition? And if they can, will they be able to break out from the bridgeheads? And if they can do that, their advance across the map is threatened as Allied reinforcements pour in from the north (mainly British) and south (French). Most reinforcements are determined randomly so the German player never knows what to expect on his flanks.

Rules highlight armor, air support and morale. Special rules include Allied Heavy Armor units, DeGaulle’s and Rommel’s initiative, Hitler’s Halt Order and French Command Paralysis.

Includes:
Two Scenarios
2 paper maps
2 full counter sheets
