Carcassonne: Star Wars
$39.99 SRP
NPI

Experience the exciting adventures of the Star Wars universe in the fascinating world of  Carcassonne! The well-known rules are slightly simplified through some clever changes and therefore offer completely new gameplay. Thrilling duels over the domination of a galaxy far, far away await you. Master the essential battles and place your troops gainfully on the route to victory. May the Force be with you.

Carcassonne: Star Wars is similar to Carcassonne but with Roads replaced with Trading Routes and claimed by Merchants instead of Robbers, Cities replaced with Asteroid Fields and claimed by Explorers instead of Knights and Cloisters replaced with Planets and claimed by Conquerors’ instead of Monks. There is also no farming equivalent.

Faction symbols (Empire, Rebel Alliance and Bounty Hunters) provide scoring bonuses regardless of what faction your Meeples belong to. Majority control is determined by dice rolling with the highest result rather than the sum determining the winner, although tiebreaks and defeats still provide some points. A player receives dice equal to the number of their Meeples involved in the majority control plus additional ones for using their large Meeple and any matching Faction symbols but this is always capped at three dice.

One notable change is that Planets can be conquered by placing tiles adjacent to the Planet tile where the player now has the option of placing a Meeple on the adjacent Planet tile instead of on the tile he placed.

There is also a four player team variant where two Empire colors (black/Darth Vader and white/Storm Troopers) fight against two Rebel Alliance colors (red/Luke Skywalker and green/Yoda). The Orange/Boba Fett is not used in this game mode.

Agricola
$69.99 SRP
NPI

Agricola is a turn-based game. There are 14 game rounds occurring in 6 stages, with a Harvest at the end of each stage (after Rounds 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14).

Each player starts with two playing tokens (farmer and spouse) and thus can take two turns, or actions, per round. There are multiple options, and while the game progresses, you’ll have more and more: first thing in a round, a new action card is flipped over.

Problem: Each action can be taken by only one player each round, so it’s important to do some things with high preference.

Each player also starts with a hand of 7 Occupation cards (of more than 160 total) and 7 Minor Improvement cards (of more than 140 total) that he/she may use during the game if they fit in his/her strategy. Speaking of which, there are countless strategies, some depending on your card hand. Sometimes it’s a good choice to stay on course, and sometimes it is better to react to your opponents’ actions.

Carcassonne
$34.99 SRP
NPI

Carcassonne is a tile-placement game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it. The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads.

Having placed a tile, the player can then decide to place one of their meeples on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner.

Carcassonne is the perfect introduction to the modern world of board games. With its simple rules (place a tile, place a meeple, score points), beautifully illustrated tiles, and iconic components, this modern classic should be part of everyone’s collection.

Haleakala
$34.99 SRP
NPI

In this game, players take on the role of Makuakane and his son, Keiki, who cherish the goal of honoring their ancestors’ tradition by offering totems to the Sun, hoping it’ll ease its fury and preserve peace on the island.

Each opponent will try to score points by erecting as many totems as possible around a dangerous volcano that threatens to erupt at any moment, ruining all of your hard work…but there’s more!

There’s usually a lot of cool things to do on any island, and Haleakala doesn’t differ with tons of sea food to fish, butterflies to catch and precious shells to collect among many other activities.

It won’t be long before you realize all the depth and the different strategies you could elaborate to cumulate the most points in this original worker placement game.

New Rio Grande Titles Announced

Arriving Soon

RIO460
Carcassonne: Corn Circles, Plague/Tunnel
$17.50 SRP

This medium-sized expansion includes the components from the three earlier published expansions: Crop Circles, Plague, and Tunnels.

Crop Circles: The seventh official mini expansion for Carcassonne, this adds 6 tiles depicting Crop Circles with corn stalks as the new watermark. The Crop Circles allow a player to place a second follower on an already-claimed feature, or remove an already-placed follower back to their supply.

Plague: Carcassonne: Die Pest (The Plague) was released with issue 2010/6 of Spielbox Magazine (both German and English editions). From the German: Pestilence descends upon Carcassonne, spreading under the players’ control across the landscape tiles and carrying off any followers unfortunate enough to be located there.

Tunnels: Der Tunnel is another small Carcassonne expansion published in an issue of Spielbox magazine. This one is included with Spielbox 6/2009. Like its predecessor, Carcassonne: Die Katharer, it comprises merely four tiles; however, Der Tunnel also includes two tokens for each player. To summarize the incredibly short rules, in addition to your normal tile and optional follower placement, you may place one of your tunnel chips on any exposed tunnel entrance on the table, regardless of whether it's on the tile you just played. Once both your tunnel chips are out there, they connect the two roads, wherever they might be. For bonus fun, you can even do this to tunnels portrayed on tiles in other expansions.

Galaxy Trucker: Another Big Expansion is just as big as the Big one – New tiles. New Support team to be hired to enhance your shipbuilding experience. New ship classes, including huge IVB ships.

Wait... that's a different game, right? Aren't we speaking rather about Space Alert now? Well... it seems this "let's board a ship and eat its crew" mode spreads prety fast in the known universe these days, as with this expansion, it can happen also in Galaxy Trucker.

In the Carcassonne dice game, the players cleverly use dice roles try to build closed cities as large as they can - the bigger, the better.
They said it couldn't be done – oh, wait, no one ever said that. In fact, gamers have been predicting the release of this title for at least five years, and now is the time.
As part of the tenth anniversary celebrations for the Spiel des Jahres-winning Carcassonne, publisher Hans im Glück and designers Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and Olivier Lamontagne are releasing Carcassonne: Das Würfelspiel, a quick-playing dice game that will allow players to build cities faster than ever before. The game includes nine special dice, a pencil and a block of scoresheets packaged inside a meeple-shaped metal container.
