KOBGGD2
The Complete Kobold Guide to RPG Design

$19.99 SRP
SDI

The first edition of the COMPLETE KOBOLD GUIDE TO GAME DESIGN laid out concepts, techniques and advice for designing roleplaying games and enhancing adventures. This second edition brings together essays from the original volume, many updated to reflect the changing game design landscape, as well as new essays by veteran designers Jeff Grubb (Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Guild Wars), Kelly Pawlik (Midgard Sagas, Empire of the Ghouls), Amber Scott (Dungeons & Dragons, Eberron) and Ray Vallese (Kobold Guide to Magic).

Between these covers, you’ll find practical, thought-provoking essays on worldbuilding, creating magic systems, conflict, and compelling stories, what to expect when you work as a design professional, and much more. Conceptual chapters examine what game design is and how good design can create the best games. Concrete examples provide models to help you create well-rounded designs and exciting adventures.

In his essay, "Seize the Hook," designer Rob Heinsoo says, "Design a game you want to play but can’t because no one else has designed it yet." The COMPLETE KOBOLD GUIDE TO GAME DESIGN, SECOND EDITION will help you do that, and your games and campaigns will never be the same!

Liminal Roleplaying

$50.00 SRP

Liminal is a self-contained tabletop roleplaying game about those on the boundary between the modern day United Kingdom and the Hidden World- the world of secret societies of magicians, a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin. The players portray Liminals - those who stand between the mortal and magical realms, with ties to each.

Examples of Liminals include:
  • A magician who acts as a warden to protect unaware mortals from supernatural menaces;
  • Someone of mysterious birth who is perhaps half Fae. In any case they are caught up in Faerie politics whether they like it or not.
  • A burglar who steals supernatural relics.
  • A werewolf who still has many ties to ordinary people.
  • A dhampir, striving to do good despite their vampiric infection.
  • A mortal detective who knows some of the real strangeness out there.

The magical world has a basis in British and Irish folklore and legends, along with ghost stories and modern day popular takes on the supernatural in fiction. Inspirations from fiction include the "real world" fantasy novels of Ben Aaranovitch, Jim Butcher, Emma Bull, Susanna Clarke, Harry Connolly, Charles de Lint, Neil Gaiman, Benedict Jacka, and Helene Wecker.

The Other Side! New from Wyrd Miniatures!

Order by Date: October 1, 2018
Release Date: October 2018

All miniatures supplied unpainted. May require preparation and assembly.
The Other Side: Core Rulebook
$60.00 SRP

The Other Side is a streamlined game intended to be easy to pick up and learn while still providing an exciting, tactical experience for players.

The epic battles taking place across the Earth are played out on a 4 x 6 table with scattered, light terrain. Alternating activations keep you involved in the action every step of the way, while a five turn game keeps the fighting quick and bloody. The average game lasts about two hours.

The Other Side is won and lost by how well your troops complete their mission, creating an ebb and flow to the battle as objectives are fiercely contested throughout the entire game.

Includes world background information, seven stories, and the game rules.

The Other Side: King's Empire: Allegiance Box: Charles Edmonton

$90.00 SRP

Charles Edmonton is not someone you trifle with. He is a canny sniper who was present in the battle of London, and he is prepared to fight for his country until the end.

Edmonton does not specialize in killing a large number of troops, but enemy Commanders have learned to fear him. Piercing means he flips two cards on a Penetration flip and takes the better one, and he can always trigger Headshot. This gives his action Precise, which means that enemy Commanders can't use nearby troops to absorb the blow (they will instead rely on their Assets).

Charles Edmonton does not change his tune when he goes to Glory, he just gets better at it. He increases the range of those near him. He gets better with his gun.

Perhaps most importantly, he has the ability, with "Where'd He Go?" to move up to 16". If he hits his Snapshot trigger, he can even take a shot after. This gives him a potential two shots a turn and movement... Enemy Commanders live in fear!

Contents:
  • Charles Edmonton, a King's Empire Commander
  • 2 Squads of Royal Rifle Corps (9 models, 5 sculpts for each)
  • Squad of Infiltrators (9 models, 5 Sculpts for each)
  • All unit cards
  • Allegiance card
  • King's Empire generic, and Charles Edmonton specific, Assets (Earth Fate Deck, A measuring tape,Cardboard tactics tokens)

The Other Side: Abyssinia: Allegiance Box: Prince Unathi

$90.00 SRP

Prince Unathi is a well-balanced battlefield Commander. Field Test allows him to make better use of Prototype Assets, and Call for Reinforcements helps him keep his soldiers alive.

His only attack is the powerful Poison Rocket, able to do a Strength 2 hit to an area, and, with a good success, create a permanent piece of Hazardous Terrain.

Upon going to Glory, Prince Unathi doesn't learn any new tricks, but he does become better at those he knows. New Triggers on his Actions give them extra potency, allowing his entire army to benefit from his switch to Glory.

Contents:
  • Prince Unathi, an Abyssinian Commander
  • 2 Squads of Mehal Sefari (9 models, 5 sculpts for each)
  • Squad of Crow Runners (9 models, 5 Sculpts for each)
  • All unit cards

Architects of the West Kingdoms & more October releases! New from Renegade Game Studios!

Release Date: October 2018

Architects of the West Kingdoms
$50.00 SRP

Architects of the West Kingdom is set at the end of the Carolingian Empire, circa 850 AD. As royal architects, players compete to impress their King and maintain their noble status by constructing various landmarks throughout his newly appointed domain. Players will need to collect raw materials, hire apprentices and keep a watchful eye on their workforce. These are treacherous times. Rival architects will stop at nothing to slow your progress. Will you remain virtuous, or be found in the company of thieves and black marketeers?

The aim of Architects of the West Kingdom is to be the player with the most Victory Points (VP) at the game’s end. Points are gained by constructing various Buildings and advancing work on the Archbishop’s Cathedral. Throughout the game, players will need to make a lot of moral decisions. However, only at the game’s end will their virtue be judged. A few underhanded deals here and there might not seem like much, but fall too far and you will be punished. The game ends once a set number of constructions have been completed.

Tiny Epic Zombies! New from Gamelyn Games!

Order by Date: September 30, 2018
Release Date: October 2018

Tiny Epic Zombies

In Tiny Epic Zombies, survivors are always on the run, collecting weapons, killing Zombies and working toward completing objectives.

Completing 3 objectives can win you the game but if you're too focused on the objectives, the Zombies will overrun the mall and that will be the end of you.

Based on the mode of play, you will either play as one of the Survivors or as the Zombies.

As a Survivor, your turn will consist of moving 3 times. Then based on where you move, you'll be able to do additional things. For instance, if you move into a room with a Zombie, you'll have to fight it by rolling the Zombie die. Or if you move into a room adjacent to a Zombie, you can spend ammo to shoot it. Killing a Zombie is actually pretty easy... but they just keep coming. Keeping them from overrunning the entire mall, while trying to accomplish your objectives, that is hard!

After you've taken your 3 moves, you'll search the room. This is done by revealing the Search Card you are holding. Most of the time, you find something useful, like awesome items you can later pickup and equip to your ITEMeeples. Sometimes though, you may find a Zombie lurking in the corner. So be prepared.
After you search the room, more Zombies flood into the Mall. Then it's the next player's turn. Simple as that.

Note: If your ammo and wound tokens ever meet, you're dead meat! So, keep your wounds low and your ammo high.

If you die, that character will turn into a Zombie and you'll have to draw a new character to play. If that happens too many times, you lose the game.

As a Zombie player, not only will you control unique Zombies with special abilities, you will control ALL the Zombies! With your help, the Zombies will have a brain in addition to eating brains. Your game will be to overwhelm the players with clever placement and movement of the Zombies. Smother them with your Zombie horde and prevent them from completing their objectives. If you kill enough players or overrun the mall courtyard, you win..

5 play modes including competitive and cooperative play.

1. Cooperative team-play with game controlled Zombies.
2. Cooperative team-play with Zombies controlled by a non-team player.
3. Competitive free-for-all with game controlled Zombies.
4. Competitive free-for-all with Zombies controlled by a player.
5. Solo.
